What is the easiest way to clean up toys after a playdate? (a winter playdate with runny noses and coughs in particular)
When I wash my daughter's toys after her own use, I just use hot water and Dawn. After this playdate, I filled the kitchen sink with hot water and Dawn and put the toys in to soak. The other toys I wiped down with baby wipes and paper towels. (I don't feel that's clean enough but down't want to put chemicals on the toys my daughter puts in her mouth!)
Can you use the lysol disinfecting wipes on toys that they put in their mouths? Do you have to rewipe with rag to get the excess cleaner off?
What about lysol spray?--and then wipe down, right?
Or do I go back to water & Dawn on a towel, wipe, then rinse with clean towel?--so much time!
I'd love to get a good clean, but am looking for a quick and easy "one time wipe down" way...does that exist?
Any tips? Thanks!!
Hi Moms,
I found out today that my daughter's daycare has a child who came down with the MRSA, staph infection....my pediatrician says as long as they're disinfecting, constantly cleaning up, washing up, that it's okay, but boy, I don't know...the more I read, the more I wonder if it's bad of me to send her back to a place that has a potentially very harmful disease....or am I just overeacting to all the medias hype of this condition??? I don't know...my brother in law, who has a 18 month old said he'd take him right out and not bring him back....my husband thinks that too, but then is fighting with the reality of the media hype and all that...any great motherly advice would be much appreciated!!!!!! Thank you in advance! By the way, the school sent a letter home with all the kids today telling us parents this information and they said they are following the guidelines from the local health dept. and the CDC.....and they are a good school. They did not specify what age group this was found in and they have 2 separate buildings housing different age kids....
I am concerned that I am not cleaning my 9m hands enough as he is getting a lot of colds these days. I know that is normal but we participate in many group activities (Gymboree, gym day care, church day care, playgroups, ect) and I want to wipe his hands with something that will kill bacteria. The reason is his hands are in his mouth nonstop! I want to expose him to as many germs necessary to build his immune system but also want to prevent the number of colds he is getting. I know one way is to keep his hands clean. Any suggestions on a fast method of disinfecting his hands. I am not a fan of putting Purel or any liquid hand disinfectant on his precious hands. What about baby wipes? I use Whole Foods with aloe wipes and feel those are safe for his hands and ultimately his mouth. Plain ole hand washing is a challenge but doable. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
It all started on Christmas day, my 2 yr old had a flu bug and was throwing up all day, better by the next day. Two weeks later he had a fever & vomiting again all weekend, mon. the 8th he was admitted to the hospital for breathing problems. It ended up being complications of RSV and was released wed the 10th with albuterol breathing treatments to be done at home. Then 1 wk later I had my 2yr old and 8 mo old at the doctor, oldest had strep and the baby had "probable" rsv and a double ear infection. Antibiotics for both and albuterol breathing treatments for the baby now. They spent last fri in daycare then sun the baby started throwing up, continued through monday with fever 102+, stopped tues and fever broke. Tues night 2yr old spiked a fever of 102+ and vomited. I had to go to work on wed so my mom watched 2yr old and I took the baby to daycare, 3hrs later I had to pick him up becaus he vomited again. We bypassed the dr and went to urgent care this time, my 2yr old now had an ear infection (while on antibiotics for the strep) and they said the baby was vomiting because of mucus drainage. Now they are both on a cough/decongestant that makes them sleepy and my 2yr old is on a stronger antibiotic. I've cleaned all their toys numerous times with disinfecting cleaners, cans of lysol and oust throughout the house for weeks and everyone is still getting sick. How can I get everyone in good health again and keep it that way?
My son is 7 months old and has Thrush. I was wondering if anyone else has had any experience with this. How long did it last? He is still being breast fed so the doctor advised me to use his medication on my nipples as well, so we don't keep spreading it back and forth. I have boiled his bottle nipples and pacifiers as well as the breast shields for my pump. Would anyone recommend disinfecting his toys too? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
