My 2.5 year old daughter is displaying a lot of behavioral problems. I am getting her tested for developmental problems, but I suspect she may have a food allergy that is causing her to be hyperactive and moody. I would love any information from other moms who have gone down this road with their children. Specifically, I am looking for a couple good books that talk about how to figure out what is the cause of the allergy, ie elimination diets. I read one a family friend gave me, but it seemed outdated and had some information I found contradictory. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Our son is having difficulties with speech and is about to receive services to help him. I have heard that sometimes food allergies can interfere with speech development and would like to have him tested. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is food allergy testing the same as other allergy tests that require a great number of arm pokes?
My two-year-old son has had asthmatic symptoms in the past. (He uses pulmicort) He also, in the last three months, has developed bright red cheeks and allergy eyes. He got his first ear infection in March and his ears haven't been well since. He is scheduled to get ear tubes and his adnoids removed at the end of the month. However, I feel like this has a lot to do with a food allergy we can not pinpoint. We've tried dietary changes to figure out what it is...but to no avail. I'd like to test him for food allergies but my naturopath says most allergy tests are unreliable. I do not want to do the scratch test. Does anyone know of any tests that are accurate and relatively easy to do with kids? I'd appreciate any info because I'd like to get to the source of his health problems and not just treat the symptoms. Thanks.
PS Thanks for the responses already--I forgot to mention that we have tried rotation diets, chiroprator, and natural supplements. We are in a rural area of Montana, so tests available anywhere would be helpful, although we will travel to help our little boy!
I have heard mixed reviews on this issue so I decided to ask everyone here because I have always received such good advice. At what age do you introduce peanut butter? I was told not until 4-5 because of the allergy factor. Someone said after 1 years it is ok. I am very confused and I am concerned about the allergy issue as I have a food allergy and have friends with the peanut allergy; so I know how difficult/dangerous it is to have a food allergy.
Thanks in advance for all your advise.
My daughter is 18 months and is allergic to nuts, milk, wheat, soy, corn, and egg whites. She is not completely yet on table food becuase I do not have many options. My best friend had her son taken for the allergy test and guess what...he is allergic to the exact same things. I am thinking most babies are allergic to the above. For the moms that have children with the same food allergys or to anyone who can help, what foods ideas can you suggest? I dont mind buying different foods and I dont mind cooking.
My daughter loves table food, however her food allergies make the selections limited.
